First, let's understand the concept of 'dam'. 'Dam' is a geographical term. The North China Plain is very low in altitude, and it suddenly rises to the Inner Mongolia Plateau, forming a step-like shape, hence the name 'dam'. The dam usually refers to the area at the southernmost end of the Inner Mongolia Plateau in the north of Beijing, including the four counties of Zhangbei, Shangyi, Kangbao, and Guyuan in Zhangjiakou Dam, and the two counties of Fengning and Weichang in Chengde Dam. The dam grassland is a plateau grassland, with an altitude between 1200 and 1400 meters. There are many passes and peaks along the dam, the highest of which is over 2500 meters above sea level. The place where I am now is Fengning in Chengde Dam. The Great Khan's Palace is here. According to historical records, this vast land was once a military stronghold of Genghis Khan, the pride of the generation. Genghis Khan camped here in 1215. The Great Khan's Palace not only reproduces the grand scene of Genghis Khan's golden tent palace 800 years ago, but also shows the profound cultural connotations of palace culture, military culture, and religious beliefs during the Mongol Yuan period.
