The Khan's Palace on Bashang Grassland, a heroic story of a great warrior

The Great Khan's Palace is located in Datan Town at the junction of Fengning County and Guyuan County in Hebei Province. This tranquil grassland was once a strong military base. In 1215 AD, Genghis Khan camped here when he conquered the Jin Dynasty. To commemorate the great achievements of this historical figure, the Khan's Palace was rebuilt on the first grassland north of Beijing. Through re-enactments, the Mongolian court culture, military culture and religious beliefs are displayed. The Great Khan's Palace faces east and sits west. It is a typical palace-style axial building. Entering from the east gate, the first thing you see is a 16-meter-long rectangular stone with the Mongolian word "Khan" on it. Continue walking westward, and you will see the Palace Gate, Chongtian Gate, Genghis Khan's military tent, the Golden Tent, the sleeping tent, Aobo, and the Altar for Offering Sacrifices to Heaven. Chongtian Gate, also known as the Changshengtian Archway, is 13 meters high and 23 meters wide. It is carved from natural bluestone and is a stone archway that only emperors can enjoy. People bowed as they walked under the stone archway to express their infinite respect for Eternal Heaven. Behind the Eternal Heaven Archway is Genghis Khan’s military tent, which consists of five tents in total. Each tent is made of 20 tons of iron and looks like a helmet. In the middle is Genghis Khan's central military tent, where military and national affairs were discussed. The four military tents around are the residences of Genghis Khan's four sons: the eldest son Jochi, the second son Chagatai, the third son Ogedei, and the youngest son Tolui. There are statues of people and clothing and supplies displayed in the tents. Genghis Khan's Golden Tent, also known as the Eagle Tent, is 20 meters in diameter, 15 meters high and covers an area of ​​3,000 square meters. The Golden Tent recreates the scene of Genghis Khan discussing matters with his ministers. In the middle is a seated statue of Genghis Khan, with Queen Borte and Concubine Khurlan on the left and right. Behind the Golden Tent are three large tents, the middle one is Genghis Khan's tent, and on the left and right sides are tents for concubines. Walking westwards past the tents and passing the Aobao group, you will arrive at the innermost building of the Khan's palace, the altar for offering sacrifices to the sky that integrates shamanism, Buddhism and Taoism. Climbing up to the altar, you can overlook the entire Khan's palace scenic area.
