Famen Temple | Underground Palace

| Underground palace. ◾️Turn left from the Zhenshen Pagoda to reach the museum. We first visited the underground palace. The underground palace of Famen Temple looks particularly mysterious under the quiet lights. Despite its ordinary appearance, the Famen Temple Pagoda has a great background. According to Buddhist scriptures, King Ashoka unified India in the 3rd century BC and promoted Buddhism. Legend has it that King Ashoka built several pagodas around the world for people to worship the Buddha, including 19 in China. The earliest Famen Temple Pagoda is one of them. The real relics of Buddha Shakyamuni are enshrined in a mysterious underground palace in the Famen Temple. ◾️The emperors of the Tang Dynasty welcomed the Buddha's bones six times at the Famen Temple. The underground palace was opened once every thirty years, which brought good harvests and harmony to the people. Every emperor who welcomed the Buddha's bones would take out the best treasures to offer to the Buddha's relics. The Earth Official was very small, so the emperor had to bend over to enter. Among the local officials, any treasure is an absolute national treasure and was previously used by the emperor. That’s why they say that once the underground palace is opened, it will be half of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. 📍Visiting the underground palace depends on luck, and sometimes it is not open.
