Fufu Kawaguchiko: A Luxurious Retreat with Mt. Fuji Views! 🇯🇵🗻

#summervacay For the final leg of my five-day, four-night onsen ryokan hopping adventure, I chose Fufu Kawaguchiko, nestled by Lake Kawaguchiko. The room offered stunning views of both Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's aesthetic. The decor was forest-inspired and minimalist, filled with lush greenery and beautiful wooden furnishings. The lobby is on the second floor, with the restaurant and outdoor garden on the first. From the lobby, I could gaze out and see the garden, Lake Kawaguchiko, and the distant Mount Fuji all at once – a truly captivating combination. Our room was undeniably the most beautiful of the four ryokans on this trip. The interior design, with its rich wooden textures and simple, elegant style, perfectly matched my husband's and my taste. The living room opened onto a balcony, providing direct views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. The balcony even had a fireplace! Lighting it up in the evening and playing some Japanese music on the hotel's provided speakers made for a truly blissful night, far removed from the daily grind. The food was also the most satisfying of all four accommodations. For dinner, the appetizers, like the smoked duck with taro and the sesame ginkgo abalone, offered a fantastic blend of flavors. The main course, charcoal-grilled wagyu, melted in my mouth, and the chestnut and lotus root clay pot rice was wonderfully fragrant and soft. Breakfast featured an innovative dish, the "natto beef tofu gratin," which was simply exceptional. The only minor regret my husband and I had was that Fufu's overall style – from its decor and onsen to its service – leaned more towards a Western aesthetic. We were hoping for a more traditional Japanese washoku experience.
