While wandering around Fukushima in search of a spot for afternoon tea, we stumbled upon オジマパン店, and what a gem it turned out to be. This is one of those old-school Japanese confectionary cafés that feels like it’s been lovingly preserved in time—run by a sweet elderly couple who clearly take pride in what they do. The moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the lady boss, whose hospitality was so genuine it instantly made us feel at home. The café was quiet, charming, and filled with nostalgic touches—from the retro furniture to the slightly faded but warm decor. It really felt like stepping into someone’s cozy living room from decades past. We sampled a few of their homemade snacks and pastries, and everything we tried was simple yet delicious in that comforting, no-frills way. As for the coffee—it was clearly made in a very local Japanese style, which leans on the lighter side. We personally prefer a richer, stronger brew, but it still paired well with the snacks.
