It's close to Seoul, easy to get to by public transportation, and a good place for a day trip to the ocean. Of course, there are closer oceans, but I like the East Sea. :) 💜 KTX train trip Since it was a day trip, I went to Seoul Station early in the morning. I thought there would be a lot of seats because it was a weekday, so I made a reservation late, but we ended up sitting far apart. But there's something romantic about train travel, right? I was excited and happy just looking at the scenery outside the window. 🩷 Chodang Hoon-i Sundubu Jjamppong ✅️ Gangwon Gangneung-si Chodang Sundubu-gil 55beon-gil 38 1st floor 102 ✅️ Business hours 07:00~19:00 / Last order 18:40 - Regularly closed every Thursday After arriving at Gangneung Station, take the bus straight to Sundubu Village. That's right. Lunch is the first thing on the schedule! Even though it's a weekday, there are a lot of people, so you have to wait 30 minutes before entering. I ordered Sundubu Baekban and Sundubu Jjamppong made with 100% domestic soybeans. Sundubu Jjamppong is really spicy. I can't eat spicy food well. The fluffy Sundubu Baekban is salty because it's seasoned with deep sea water. The soybean paste stew is also salty, so it goes well with both Sundubu Baekban and rice. There are various foods such as ramen, modubu, squid sundae, and gomakjeon, but it's a shame that I couldn't order more because the amount of soft tofu is large. 💜 Coffee Cupper Museum ✅️ 341 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do ✅️ Business hours 09:00~20:00 - Museum admission closing time 18:00 ✅️ Features: Brewing coffee with various beans / Free museum admission if you buy coffee I can't give up coffee after a meal. I boldly gave up the long-standing cafe, Hwamaru, and stopped by the Coffee Cupper Museum on the way to Gangmun Beach to drink coffee and look around the coffee museum. The interior of the store is a bit noisy. I sat at a table that felt like a warehouse next to the roasting machine and ordered an iced latte and an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. The brewing price is not cheap, but I recommend it if you like single origin. The Coffee Museum is on the 2nd floor and is open until 6 PM. Admission is free if you drink coffee. I'm interested in coffee, so it was quite interesting. The third floor is a library. I didn't know I'd go to a library when I came to Gangneung. It's also fun that I spent a long time here. :) 🩷 Gangmun Beach On the way to Gangmun Beach from the cafe, I stopped by a small prop shop called Yurial Yuhee and bought a transparent whale postcard that goes well with the sea. Gangmun Beach has many sculptures, so it's full of photo spots. It's a weekday, so there aren't many people, so it's good for taking pictures, but the sandy beach full of sunlight is too hot to stay for long, which is a pitfall. My body feels like it's melting, but thanks to the extremely clear weather, the sea is as clear and beautiful as a glass bead, which makes me feel good. 💜 Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Park Today, long outdoor activities are difficult, so I enjoyed the Gangneung sea briefly and moved to the birthplace of Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon. The modest-looking birthplace of Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon has a beautiful yard. Hydrangeas are overflowing, and the orange rhododendrons blooming beautifully beyond the low yellow-brown wall go well with the house. In the small but informative memorial hall, I learned stories about Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon that I didn't know about, and I felt refreshed for a moment. In the summer, you should travel with a proper mix of outdoor and indoor activities to avoid harming your health. :) 🩷 Gangneung Arte Museum ✅️ 131 Nanseolheon-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do ✅️ Operating hours 10:00~20:00 / Last admission 19:00 Gangneung Arte Museum is the third immersive media art permanent exhibition hall that District will present in 2021, exhibiting media art with 12 themes in a 1,500-pyeong space. There are various media art, experiential LIVE SKETCHBOOK, and photo spots, so this is a great place for a date or to visit with children. You won't know how much time passes while looking around and taking pictures. The most popular photo zone is SUN because of its simple but pretty pink and purple colors. You can freely enter and take pictures in other zones, but here you have to wait in line to take pictures. Fight the stares of people! 💜 Dongsan Port Mulhoe ✅️ 22, Gyeonggang-ro 2267beon-gil, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do 1st floor ✅️ Business hours: 11:00-20:00 We had dinner at Dongsan Port Mulhoe, which is about a 20-minute walk from Gangneung Station. The staff was friendly, and the food came out quickly. I beat the heat with a cold beer, and refilled my energy with sweet and sour mulhoe and thick seafood pancakes. The reason why the day trip, which could have been especially tiring because it was a walking trip in the hot summer weather, was so good was because it was a smart trip that shortened the distance traveled and went back and forth between outdoors and indoors, but most of all, it was because I was with good people :)
