This newly opened hotel this year couldn't possibly be bad, so I booked three nights straight. Arriving at 7-8 AM, the hotel sits in a residential area near a river. Beyond the neighborhood lanes, the surroundings are vibrant with convenient transportation. True to its name "Hidden Retreat," this designer hotel showcases thoughtful details everywhere. Coming from the north sweaty and before check-in time, we hoped to drop our luggage early. The receptionist kindly informed us they'd call if our room type was ready for early check-in. Delighted, we left our bags and walked to nearby Dian Dou De for dim sum. Finishing breakfast just as the call came, we returned for early check-in. Though not spacious, every inch is smartly utilized without feeling cramped. Amenities are complete, including a laundry room with take-home detergent bottles and custom garment bags. Plus, Hidden Retreat's lavish breakfast (both Chinese and Western) was a highlight – as someone unaccustomed to Cantonese cuisine, I'd say these were Guangzhou's best meals during my 3-day stay! The front desk also serves exceptional signature teas (rotating daily) that I'd grab each time passing by. Opened in 2020, the property maintains pristine condition with Qi culture artwork lining soundproof-carpeted hallways, creating an "oasis in the city" ambiance.
