Arrive in Guilin in the morning. If taking the high-speed train to Guilin North Station, book a nearby hotel to drop off luggage, then head downtown—just 6 km away. Lazy travelers can take a taxi for about 10 RMB directly to the scenic area entrance. Start with Elephant Trunk Hill Park, a must-see spot. If you're energetic, you can even walk inside the "elephant's trunk." A few hundred meters from the park is Zhengyang Pedestrian Street, similar to those in other cities—not a must, but some viral snack shops are worth trying. Across the street from Zhengyang Pedestrian Street is Dongxi Alley, which looks stunning when lit at night. Many affordable restaurants are inside (online prices look reasonable). After exploring, head to Xiaoyao Tower for photos—the Twin Pagodas of Two Rivers and Four Lakes are super photogenic!
