A Journey to Bakdaljae: Where Legends and Nature Intertwine

Bakdaljae is a place that evokes legendary tales just by its name. Like the story in the song 'Crying and Crossing Bakdaljae,' walking along the mountain path brings a unique emotional experience, blending the poignant legend of love with the serene charm of the forest trail. The first stop was Bakdaljae Legend Park. The park features sculptures and a monument dedicated to the love story of Bakdal and Geumbong, accompanied by soft music that makes it a perfect spot to pause and relax. Walking along the forest trail reveals different seasonal landscapes, ideal for a leisurely stroll. Next, I headed to Bakdaljae Natural Recreation Forest. The dense woods and the sound of flowing streams created a truly healing atmosphere. The forest cabins, with their spacious duplex structure, provided ample room, and the outdoor deck allowed me to enjoy a barbecue while soaking in the fresh forest air. Lunch was a herbal samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) in downtown Jecheon. Known for its mountains and medicinal herbs, the dish had a fragrant and rich flavor that left a lasting impression. In the afternoon, I took a short walk around nearby Uirimji, a tranquil lake that added a sense of leisure to the trip. Finally, I visited Baeron Holy Ground for a brief look around and bought Jecheon's famous glutinous rice cakes as a souvenir on the way back. Their chewy texture and mildly sweet taste provided a delightful end to the journey. Bakdaljae is a place where forests, legends, and the gentle allure of mountain paths come together. It's an excellent destination for a day of quiet relaxation and immersion in nature.
