Yishang Hotel Xishuangbanna: Encountering the Pleasant Time at 21°N Latitude

This trip to Xishuangbanna, Yishang Hotel became my warmest and most interesting haven on this fiery land. First Meeting: Opening a Passionate Surprise Box Dragging my luggage into the Yishang Hotel lobby felt like opening a surprise box full of delights. Rows of free-flowing Manlu Mountain Spring water were neatly arranged, with cute illustrated signs seemingly waving enthusiastically: "Come take me away!" Nearby, a large jar of ice-cold lemon water, with yellow-green lemon slices swaying gracefully in the water, looked so refreshing. The front desk lady handed me a cup with a sweet smile, and that smile along with the cool drink instantly dispelled my travel fatigue and the heat brought by Xishuangbanna’s blazing sun. This was Yishang Hotel’s exclusive “welcome gift” to me, instantly raising my expectations. Check-in: Falling into a Lazy Vortex Entering the room, I felt as if an invisible hand pushed me into a lazy vortex. The large window framed a stunning landscape painting; the pointed roofs of Dai-style architecture playfully peeked out, harmonizing beautifully with the blue sky and white clouds. I could stare at this scene all day. Then looking at the bed, the fluffy white bedding was as soft as clouds, and I helplessly “sank” into it. I had planned to drop my luggage and head to Manting Park to experience the charm of the Dai King’s Royal Garden, but my body was “sealed” by the bed. When I woke up, the lights outside were just coming on. Well, Manting Park will have to wait until tomorrow—who could resist the “magic” of this bed! Food: A Feast for the Taste Buds The hotel’s breakfast area every morning felt like a feast for the taste buds. The Yunnan rice noodle stall was always the liveliest. The auntie was as warm as a flame, skillfully blanching noodles while loudly calling out: “Miss, add more toppings, it’s filling and delicious!” A spoonful of pickled vegetables, a few lettuce leaves, and some fragrant meat sauce—the taste was a tangy, spicy, and fresh explosion in my mouth, instantly awakening every taste bud. The milk, soy milk, fruits, and hot dishes nearby were equally impressive. Every day I left the restaurant leaning against the wall, my diet plan completely defeated by Yishang’s breakfast. Surroundings: Surprises Around Every Corner The hotel’s location was simply perfect, a real-life version of “surprises around every corner.” A short walk took me to the bustling Starlight Night Market, a colorful and dreamy world. The smoky aroma of Dai-style barbecue, exquisite handmade crafts, and exciting street performances kept me entertained non-stop. When tired of wandering, I could quickly retreat to the peaceful haven of Yishang Hotel. The hotel’s courtyard terrace was also a treasure. Sitting there at dusk, the breeze carried the sweet scent of frangipani, and the distant noise of the night market turned into the most atmospheric background music. Ordering a lemongrass grilled chicken and a Puluda, time seemed to slow down and become beautiful. Farewell: Looking Forward to the Next Reunion At checkout, the front desk lady gave me handmade glutinous rice balls again, with the familiar smile and thoughtful care. Taking a bite of the soft glutinous rice ball, the sweetness of coconut flakes and mango spread in my mouth, just like my time at Yishang Hotel—sweet and unforgettable. Leaving Yishang Hotel, leaving Xishuangbanna, but I know that this land at 21°N latitude and this warm hotel have already planted deep affection in my heart.
