Shiguretei Pavilion: A Must-Visit in Kenrokuen

Shiguretei Pavilion, a must-visit spot in Kenrokuen, was originally built by the fifth lord of the Kaga Domain, Maeda Tsunanori. Named "Shiguretei," this pavilion marked the beginning of the surrounding garden's construction. Over generations, successive lords dedicated years of effort to complete what is now considered the pinnacle of Japanese garden design—Kenrokuen. Although Shiguretei was dismantled after the abolition of feudal domains, it was later reconstructed. Today, visitors can enter the pavilion to explore or enjoy tea and relaxation. In the past, only individuals of high status could indulge in the pleasure of tea here. Since Shiguretei was the pavilion of a feudal lord, it is highly recommended to enjoy tea and take a break here when visiting Kenrokuen! Matcha set: ¥800, Sencha set: ¥340.
