Have you ever tried ice-cream with pepper?

Hi foodies out there, I know you might think I’m crazy. But this is DELICIOUS! Koyasan Hirano Seishoan is in fact a spice store. It mainly sells products made of the Budo Sansho, which is said to be the pinnacle of Wakayama Prefecture's sansho. Wait, what’s sansho? Reading from kanji, it seems to mean “the mountain pepper”. Its natural range spans from Hokkaido to Kyushu in Japan. Wakayama Prefecture boasts 80% of domestic production, and it produces a specialty variety called budō sanshō (grape sansho), which bears large fruits and clusters like a bunch of grapes. Inside the store, one may order an ice-cream spicing with the Budo Sansho. It might be strong when you take the first bite, yet it actually elevates the taste. I really like it! If you ever pass by Koyasan, don’t miss this place! Name: Hirano Seishoan Address: 733 Koyasan, Koya, Ito District, Wakayama 648-0211, Japan #ice-cream #pepper #koyasan #wakayama
