🎫 Mont-Saint-Michel Visit Review I never thought I’d have the chance to see Mont-Saint-Michel in person, but during an unplanned trip to visit a friend in Normandy, I ended up exploring this iconic site. This unexpected visit turned into an unforgettable experience and memory for me. 🚶 Walking Experience We parked about an hour’s walk away from Mont-Saint-Michel and strolled through sheep pastures to reach the site. The scenery along the way, with flocks of sheep and vast green fields, was breathtaking. However, the walk back was exhausting and not recommended. If possible, consider walking one way and using transportation for the other. 🚌 Shuttle Bus & Travel Tips There’s a free shuttle bus available on the road leading to Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey. It’s highly recommended to take it, as the distance is quite significant. The sheep pastures are fenced but accessible, allowing you to get up close and observe the sheep—a truly unique experience. ⛪ Abbey & Museum The prison museum inside the abbey has an entrance fee of €9, but the visit lasts less than 10 minutes, so it’s not recommended. Additionally, avoid the paid restroom near the abbey entrance and use the free restroom inside the abbey instead. 💸 Tourist Prices & Essentials As expected in a tourist area, prices are high. It’s advisable to bring your own water and snacks. Fortunately, Korean pamphlets are available, and the internal signage is well-organized, so you won’t have to worry about getting lost. However, mobile data reception can be poor. 🐑 Sheep Herding & Best Timing One of the highlights of Mont-Saint-Michel is watching the sheep. Around 6–7 PM, you can see Border Collies herding the sheep, which is truly impressive. Note that some rooms inside the abbey may close for viewing after 4 PM, so it’s best to visit earlier in the day. If possible, adjust your schedule to align with these timings for a better experience. ⸻ Overall, Mont-Saint-Michel was a place I visited without much expectation but left deeply moved. While it can be physically demanding, the site and its surrounding nature are absolutely worth experiencing at least once in your lifetime.
