As soon as you enter the museum, you’re greeted by various precious artifacts and exquisite Thangka paintings. The "Snow Land Ballad – Exhibition of Tibetan History and Culture" comprehensively showcases Tibet’s development from ancient times to the present. The ancient tools and documents seem to narrate stories spanning thousands of years. There’s also the "Closest to the Sun – Exhibition of Tibetan Folk Culture," which offers deep insights into Tibet’s unique customs, from clothing to festivals, every detail is captivating. After visiting here, I felt my understanding of Tibet had reached a whole new level. My friends couldn’t stop asking me for details when I posted photos📸​ 🌳Norbulingka:​ After the museum, Norbulingka is just a short distance away. It’s the summer palace of successive Dalai Lamas, and the ticket prices are quite reasonable (80 RMB in peak season, 60 RMB in off-season). Stepping into the park, I was instantly enchanted by the blend of Tibetan-style gardens and palace architecture. The lush greenery, clear lakes, and scattered palaces create a picturesque scene. Walking through, with sunlight streaming down, it felt like traveling back in time, sensing the leisure and governance of the Dalai Lamas here. The main buildings like Gesang Phodrang and Golden Phodrang each have their unique charm, blending Tibetan and Han architectural styles. It’s a photographer’s paradise—every shot looks like a masterpiece. Plus, there are many friendly black swans gliding gracefully on the lake, adding a lively touch to the garden🦢​ 🍽️Jixiang Shengxue Restaurant:​ After exploring Norbulingka, I was ready for a meal and headed to Jixiang Shengxue. This restaurant is tucked away in a small alley, but its reputation precedes it. It’s both a guesthouse and a restaurant, and stepping into the courtyard, you’re immediately immersed in Tibetan vibes. Before the meal, the warm-hearted owner, an elderly lady, often shares stories about Tibetan history and culture, and might even give you a tour of the guesthouse. The private dining rooms have unique names inspired by common Tibetan names. The Tibetan cuisine here is authentic—try the "Kangba Man" (yak meat with flatbread), the yak meat is tender and flavorful, perfect when wrapped in the bread; "Jixiang Shengxue" (cornbread with yogurt) offers a unique taste that lingers; and the butter-roasted mushrooms retain their original aroma, making them incredibly delicious.
