Lushan Waterfall

Lushan Waterfall has long been celebrated as "the most magnificent scenery under heaven." Among its many wonders, the Three-Tiered Spring Waterfall is hailed as "Lushan's greatest marvel." The waterfall is formed by streams from Dayue Mountain and Wulao Peak, cascading down three tiers of cliffs with a total drop of 155 meters. Its grandeur is likened to "a jade dragon descending from the heavens" or "a silver river hanging upside down." Standing at the valley floor and looking up, the water curtain appears like a white silk ribbon hanging from the sky. The first tier plunges straight down 40 meters like a crystal curtain, the second tier scatters mist and snow, and the third tier rushes down in torrents, creating layers of splashing waves and thunderous echoes throughout the valley. After a rain, when the sun emerges, rainbows span the waterfall, and the mist rises like purple smoke, reminiscent of the ethereal scene described in Li Bai's poem: "Sunlight on the incense burner creates purple smoke; from afar, the waterfall hangs over the front stream." As you descend the steep stone steps, the sound of the waterfall reaches you before its sight, and refreshing water droplets splash onto your face, instantly washing away the fatigue of climbing. No wonder the ancients said, "If you haven't visited the Three-Tiered Spring, you haven't truly been to Lushan." Such a majestic spectacle is truly a masterpiece of nature's creation.
