The Doi Kham Temple that we see today has undergone many renovations, making it look like it is in perfect condition. But in fact, the original name of the temple was Wat Suwannabanphot, built in 1230 by Chao Mahantayot and Chao Anantayot, the two sons of Queen Chamadevi, the first ruler of the Hariphunchai Kingdom. Inside the temple, there is the Phra That Doi Kham, the sermon hall, and two other important Buddha images: Phra Rod Luang, a large gilded sandstone Buddha image, and Phra Sam Mo, a clay Buddha image excavated by locals in 1966 and enshrined at the temple for good fortune.
