Ginkgo Tree at Nanshuji Temple, Osaka

Nanshuji Temple, built in 1477, is hidden in a residential area of Moriguchi City, Osaka Prefecture. In the small temple, there is a ginkgo tree with a diameter of about 1.5 meters and a height of about 25 meters that is over 500 years old. The ancient ginkgo tree stretches about 15 meters from north to south and was designated a natural monument by Osaka Prefecture in 1975. When the ginkgo leaves turn golden, the temple is crowded with visitors, and the usually quiet temple becomes lively. The golden ginkgo leaves fall like rain, and the ground is covered with gold.
