The largest stalactite cave in Europe - Postojnska jama

Postojna Cave in Slovenia is a large stalactite cave with a total length of 27 kilometers and a depth of 115 meters. The Postojna Cave was formed on the seabed 70 million years ago. After sinking into the strata 3 million years ago, it gradually evolved into its present appearance due to long-term erosion and has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage. The standard guided tour of Postojna Cave opens about 5 kilometers of cave for tourists to visit, of which 3.7 kilometers are visited by train and the remaining 1.5 kilometers are visited on foot. The whole tour takes about 1.5 hours and the ticket price starts from 25.8 Euros. The temperature inside the cave is only 8-10 degrees Celsius all year round, so be sure to bring a jacket when visiting. After entering the cave and taking the small train, you can enjoy the scenery everywhere in the cave, but the dim lighting and the moving train make it difficult to take pictures. It’s better to take pictures at the walking section first, but be careful as the ground is slippery. The cave is full of strange rocks, which are a feast for the eyes. Most of the stalactites on the top of the cave are in the shape of spikes, while those on the ground are all in strange shapes, sometimes like scenes of cell division, and sometimes like monsters that are about to devour people.
