Review of Nara Park – Relaxing Walks, Romantic Autumn Leaves, and Friendly Deer

I planned to visit Nara Park during the autumn foliage season (mid-November to early December) because I wanted to see the vibrant orange and red maple leaves covering the area. And when I finally went, it did not disappoint at all! 🍁 Atmosphere on the day of visit • The grassy fields and tree branches reflecting the soft sunlight created a heartwarming scene that made me want to stop and take it all in. • The maple leaves at the end of the Ukimido Pavilion walkway, combined with the curve of the canal, were a perfect moment for a picturesque view. 🦌 Friendly Deer • The deer here are truly friendly! If you have shika senbei (deer crackers) in your hand, they’ll bow to you! But be cautious of the male deer during mating season—they can be a bit energetic. • Feeding the deer and watching them relax on the grass surrounded by autumn leaves gives off a serene, slow-life vibe. 🏯 Temples and Shrines in One Kingdom • Todaiji Temple: The giant hall and the Great Buddha are the stars here, and with the backdrop of red autumn leaves, it feels like a classic painting. • Kasuga Taisha: The lantern posts amidst the colorful forest are stunning, drawing you in without realizing it. • Nigatsu-dō Hall: Climbing up to this spot offers postcard-like views of Kofukuji, Wakakusa, and Todaiji. The evening sky glow is absolutely breathtaking. 🏞 Nature and Walking Trails • The park spans around 660 hectares, with scenic paths along mountains, grassy fields, and small canals. • Mt. Wakakusa: You can hike up to enjoy panoramic views of the city within 30–40 minutes. During the Yamayaki event (January), the experience is even more spectacular. ⸻ 📝 My Personal Tips 1.
