Exploring the Hidden Mining Spots in Jinguashi

Jinguashi is a settlement located in the northeastern part of Taiwan, administratively under Ruifang District of New Taipei City. It is situated between the northern branch of the Xueshan Mountain Range and the northeastern coast. Jinguashi once flourished due to gold mining, but it declined as the mineral resources were exhausted. Currently, Jinguashi is redeveloping towards tourism and leisure. The movie 'Hill of No Return' is set against the backdrop of Jinguashi's mining industry during the Japanese colonial period, which also boosted its fame. Jinguashi offers beautiful mountain and sea scenery. Due to its history of gold mining, there are many abandoned tunnels and caves. The weathered stone walls and moss-covered surfaces tell the story of time passing. Some tunnels now use light and shadow effects to create artistic scenes, turning them into hidden gems of Jinguashi, such as the Heart Cave. This visit to Jinguashi included landmarks like the Golden Waterfall and the hidden mining spots. Additionally, we visited Taiwan's 'Obscure Realm' - the Jinguashi POW Camp, to experience the harsh realities of war.
