Morgan Library & Museum Medieval Manuscripts

The medieval manuscripts at the Morgan Library & Museum are amazing! Each medieval manuscript is a work of art, from the illustrations to the writing! It's impressive that so many have been preserved. This month is Black History Month, and the museum has dedicated a large section to the outstanding contributions of Belle De Costa Greenie (a Black woman), the Morgan family's private librarian, to the library's history. It's very moving, and I admire the Morgan family's forward-thinking! I read the document in picture 18 twice and found it chilling! It's mainly about how to define a white person. Just looking white isn't enough. Even if you only have 1/16 Black ancestry, "these persons, however, are not white in reality, nor by the new definition of this law..."
