New York's most beautiful library, The Morgan Library & Museum Yes, it's the Morgan of JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley! Originally built in 1906, this library was Mr. Morgan's private library and is a cultural palace with a century of elegance and profound heritage. The Morgan family was one of the wealthiest and most influential families in the world at the end of the 19th century, and the building of this private library is itself an artistic treasure. The luxurious Italian Renaissance style, three-story walnut bookshelves connected to the dome, exquisite carvings, gorgeous chandeliers, and the most stunning feature is the ceiling. A series of semi-circular ceiling paintings are spliced together, covered with gilded ornamentation, each depicting a Muse.
