Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower

For the first night of my 3-night, 4-day trip to Fukuoka, I stayed at the Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower, located in Oita City, the capital of Oita Prefecture. This was my second time staying at a hotel in Oita City. The first time was six years ago during a trip when I stayed at a hotel connected to JR Oita Station. This time, the hotel was about a 10-minute walk from the station, situated closer to the city center. The arcade in front of Oita Station extends all the way to the hotel's entrance via a covered walkway, making it feel like an indoor path leading to the hotel. It’s somewhat similar to the arcade opposite Osaka’s Namba Station that leads to Dotonbori. Nikko Hotels is a Japanese hotel chain that includes brands like Okura, Nikko, and JAL City. There’s also a higher-tier version called Grand Nikko. I’ve stayed at various hotels in this chain multiple times and have even enjoyed afternoon tea at some of them, so I’m quite familiar with the brand. I made the reservation around January, choosing a Superior Twin Room, which is the most spacious among the standard rooms. For the view, I opted for the Ocean & City View, which offers a view of Beppu Bay and the city, rather than just the ocean. I checked in around 10:30 PM. The night view from the high-rise city view room was stunning, with the distant lights and smoke from the harbor and factories creating a unique scene. However, the rain made it a bit difficult to see clearly. The room was spacious and comfortable. Due to the tiring schedule, I had dinner on the train—a meal of Toriten (tempura-style chicken) and Yufuin beer. After checking in and taking a shower, I didn’t go out again and went straight to bed. The rainy weather also contributed to my decision to stay in. I had a good night’s sleep and woke up to a clear morning. The view of the factories and the sea in Oita was breathtaking. I participated in breakfast, starting around 7:30 AM since Plan A was canceled, giving me more time. The breakfast was a delightful showcase of Oita’s culinary offerings and was absolutely delicious. The desserts were also excellent. Nikko truly lives up to its reputation. After enjoying the hearty breakfast, I checked out at 8:15 AM and joined the morning rush with office workers and students as I headed to catch a city bus. Thank you.
