Stay at Patina Osaka Hotel - Undoubtedly the Best in Osaka

Having stayed at the newly opened Patina Osaka Hotel, which has been in operation for just over a month, it fully meets all expectations for a hotel of this caliber. With the upcoming Expo, Osaka has welcomed renowned hotels like Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, and Patina. Among them, Four Seasons seemed to have rushed its opening, relying heavily on temporary staff from China, while Patina appeared more composed. The front desk features a diverse team including a South Asian gentleman, a Chinese lady, and a tall Caucasian woman, offering an international setup that ensures all global travelers feel at home. The guest rooms boast modern designs infused with Japanese elements, complemented by contemporary Italian furniture, creating a surprisingly harmonious and appealing look. Standard rooms start at 50 square meters, while the 75-square-meter suites are nearly perfect. The minibar is replenished daily, allowing guests to enjoy complimentary drinks. During this stay in a 75-square-meter suite, the room featured a bed, a tatami-style bed in the bay window area, a living room with a chaise sofa, a lounge chair by the bed, and a large sofa on the balcony. It’s a true vacation experience where you can relax and enjoy drinks anywhere in the room. One minor drawback is the slippers provided by the hotel, which come in a single size suitable for feet up to size 42. As someone with size 45 wide feet, I found them completely unusable, which was a bit awkward. In terms of views, the scenic rooms face Osaka Castle Park, offering arguably the best vantage point of Osaka Castle. If this view were in Tokyo, it could easily be sold separately for over 5,000 yen. The hotel is equipped with a pool, spa, restaurant, and bar. The concierge is located outdoors on the ground floor, featuring a unique and user-friendly design that provides immediate assistance. The reception is on the 20th floor, doubling as a bar with attentive and thoughtful service. Wellness is a standout feature of Patina, with treatments generally priced at over 30,000 yen for more than an hour, offering great value for money. Breakfast is semi-buffet style, with high-quality options and a wide variety, even surpassing the Four Seasons in taste. The 20th-floor bar is reasonably priced and offers stunning views. While I didn’t try the teppanyaki or the ground-floor Western restaurant, the latter seems popular and worth a visit next time. 🚖 In terms of transportation, the location is quite convenient. A taxi ride to Umeda, Tennoji, Shinsaibashi, or Namba takes only 10–20 minutes. However, the nearest subway station is about 1 kilometer away, making walking less convenient in bad weather. 🌸 Bonus surprise: June marks the hydrangea season at Osaka Castle Park, located right across from the hotel. The scenery is breathtaking and not to be missed.
