Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatia's top tourist destinations and was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 1979. The park features over 16 emerald-green lakes and more than 90 waterfalls, including Croatia's largest, Veliki Waterfall. These natural wonders were formed over centuries as limestone deposits created natural dams in the mountain rivers. The park spans an impressive area of nearly 300 square kilometers. The park is divided into two main tourist areas: the "Upper Lakes" and the "Lower Lakes." There are also two entrances: "Entrance 1" located at the northeastern edge of the Lower Lakes, and "Entrance 2" situated roughly in the middle of the park. Visitors can explore the park efficiently thanks to regular eco-friendly buses and boat services operating within the grounds. The breathtaking scenery of water and lush greenery is renowned as a true spectacle of nature. During my first visit, I traveled by bus from Split. Arriving at an unfamiliar place at night was quite scary, but luckily, my hotel was close to the bus stop, which was a relief. This time, I stayed in Zagreb and arranged a private car for transportation. On the way, I had the chance to stop by Rastoke Village, known for its unique landscapes, which was truly moving. The convenience of traveling directly from the hotel made the experience absolutely wonderful.
