Pinewood Lodge Queenstown

In May, I visited Queenstown, New Zealand, and stayed at a place called Pinewood Lodge. Located at 48 Hamilton Road, it was very convenient—just a 10-15 minute walk to the city center. The surrounding residential area was peaceful, making it perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Pinewood Lodge has a great location, with easy walking access to both the city center and the Skyline Gondola. The hotel rooms are spread across separate cabins, each with its own bathroom and kitchen, and the facilities are fairly well-equipped. Although the decor feels a bit dated, everything was clean overall. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly. We stayed in an economy double room, which was small but had a comfortable bed and heating to keep the room warm. The amenities were basic, and some could use an upgrade. The WiFi signal was particularly weak, making it almost unusable. Our room didn’t have a private kitchen, so we had to use the shared kitchen in another cabin. Fortunately, the communal kitchen was well-equipped and very convenient to use. There are some great attractions nearby—just a 5-minute walk to the Skyline Gondola station. The mountain biking trails here are fantastic for adventure seekers. You’ll also find thrilling activities like the Milford Sound Experience, indoor skydiving, bungee jumping, and jet boating, ensuring you’ll never be bored. For dining, I highly recommend Fogo South American BBQ and The World Bar—food lovers shouldn’t miss these spots. That said, the hotel isn’t perfect, and there are a few minor issues to note. First, the common area’s heater wasn’t working, the WiFi was extremely weak, and the bathroom cleanliness was just average. While the place is budget-friendly, those seeking higher comfort levels might be a bit disappointed. Overall, Pinewood Lodge stands out for its quiet environment and affordable prices, making it a good temporary stay option. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind a few minor inconveniences, it’s worth considering! 🌸
