Among the most iconic restaurants is Najd Village, which specializes in traditional dishes from the Najdi region (central Saudi Arabia). The restaurant's exterior mimics the design of ancient mud walls, and stepping inside feels like entering a traditional Middle Eastern home. Seating mostly consists of low tables and cushions on the floor, where guests dine shoeless, fully embracing the local dining style. Even the smallest details are thoughtfully curated. The menu is rich and filled with classic dishes. I ordered the signature Kabsa (spiced rice), topped with a flavorful chicken leg and roasted almonds. The rice absorbs the juices and spices like cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom, delivering a rich yet balanced taste. Other dishes like Jareesh (wheat porridge) and Matazeez (handmade dumplings stewed with meat) offer a flavor profile that feels like a blend of Turkish and Indian influences—both familiar and intriguing. To end the meal, I enjoyed a pot of Arabic coffee paired with dates, a traditional gesture of hospitality in the region. The slightly bitter coffee and the sweet dates create a perfect harmony, rounding off the dining experience beautifully. As I left, both my heart and stomach felt thoroughly satisfied.
