A shrine with the only wooden thirteen-story pagoda in the world

#aprilblooms From politics centred on the powerful family to politics centred on the emperor, the "Revision of Taika" occurred in 645. The shrine began when the remains of the original actor, Fujiwara no Kamatari, were reburied from Settsu (now Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture), and the eldest son Sadayoshi built a wooden thirteen-story pagoda. The name comes from the fact that Kamatari and Prince Nakaoe climbed the mountain peak where the shrine stands and colluded with the reform of Taika. The wooden thirteen-story pagoda is the only remaining precious thing in the world and is also designated as an important cultural property. There are 17 other important cultural properties scattered in the precincts, including the main hall, the worship hall, and the Tohogo. It is said that Nikko Toshogu Shrine, a World Heritage Site in Tochigi Prefecture, was built based on the beautiful vermilion-painted temple.
