Clerica College

Spain Westward ~ Salamanca (Region) This historic building was built in the 17th century on the orders of Queen Margarita of Austria, wife of Philip III of Spain, and was supervised by Juan Gomez de Mora. It is a church and college of the Society of Jesus. Originally known as the Royal College of the Society of Jesus, Salamanca's Church of Clericía is a Baroque building with a public section (the church and school rooms where the Jesuits gave lectures) and a private section, where the monks lived. The church has a huge three-story Baroque cloister. The monument is now the headquarters of the Pontifical University of Salamanca. The exhibition is held in the Scala Coeli (the name of the church tower), where you can climb inside and enjoy the magnificent view from above. #2024TravelReview #SpainTravel #Castile-León
