Sendai Sunplaza Deluxe Twin Room: Views of Baseball Stadium and Cherry Blossoms

Sendai In/Osaka Out 3 Nights 4 Days On the first day, I chose the Sendai Sunplaza Hotel, located about a 12-minute walk from Sendai Station via one train stop. This is the seventh hotel I've stayed at in Sendai. Using 1,000 points from Jalan.net and a 500-yen discount coupon issued by the hotel, I booked a twin room with breakfast included for 6,100 yen. Upon check-in, I was upgraded to a deluxe twin room on a higher floor with double windows. 🙏 The hotel is just a 10-second walk from Exit 2 of JR Tsutsujigaoka Station, with a covered walkway leading directly to the hotel, so you won't get wet even on rainy days. Right in front of the hotel is the entrance to Tsutsujigaoka Park, where double cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Nearby are the Historical and Folklore Museum and Tsutsujigaoka Tenmangu Shrine. The hotel is also connected to the Sendai Sunplaza Hall, a live performance venue. On days when concerts or baseball games at Rakuten Mobile Park (a 7-minute walk away) are held, this hotel is the first to be fully booked due to its prime location. Since it was a quiet weekday with no major concerts or professional baseball games, I was able to book the room at a great price. While the bathroom tiles and sink fixtures show signs of aging, the bathtub is spacious and well-maintained, leaving little to complain about. The view from the window offers a wide panorama of southern Sendai. While the ground of Rakuten Baseball Stadium is obscured, the spectator stands are visible. Seven years ago, I visited Sendai to photograph manhole covers between Sendai Station and the baseball stadium. Unfortunately, many of these manhole covers, which were decorated with stickers, have suffered significant damage over time. Manhole covers are typically made of cast iron or cast metal. For colored manhole covers, liquid with color is poured during the casting process. I've occasionally seen this work being done between 2 and 5 a.m. These covers are durable and withstand rain and foot traffic. However, colored manhole covers with sticker coatings usually deteriorate within 3 to 5 years, especially in high-traffic areas. Returning to the hotel review, I had a restful sleep in the spacious room. The heating worked well. Uniquely, the main light must be turned on and off using a remote control, so be sure to listen carefully to the explanation during check-in. The breakfast was average. Thank you.
