Exploring Regional Gardens at the Seoul International Garden Expo

🔮 Beyond the lake at Boramae Park, garden exhibits created by various local governments were on display. From charming, intricate designs to gardens reflecting the unique characteristics of each region, there was a delightful variety to enjoy. Through the Seoul International Garden Expo, we had the meaningful opportunity to explore gardens crafted by different municipalities across the country. Each garden creatively expressed the natural environment, history, and cultural identity of its respective region, leaving a lasting impression. 🌳 🦋 Some gardens captured the traditional essence of their region with a modern twist, while others focused on themes of ecology and environmental conservation, showcasing the raw beauty of nature. Particularly striking were gardens that utilized native plants or were themed around local legends and folklore, making it feel as though you were traveling to that region in person. The spatial design of each garden was meticulous, with attention paid to even the smallest details. Strolling through the gardens naturally sparked curiosity about the regions they represented, often leaving visitors with the thought, 'I’d love to visit there someday.' Additionally, the explanatory texts and storyboards provided in the gardens greatly enhanced visitors' understanding, elevating the experience from simply viewing to truly 'feeling' the gardens. 🍁 What stood out the most was how each municipality aimed for 'communication through garden culture' rather than just landscaping. This approach allowed visitors to reflect on the identity and cultural values of each region while enjoying the gardens. 🍃 🌺 This expo was a wonderful opportunity to experience the diversity and richness of Korean garden culture. It also inspired hope that gardens will continue to serve as a bridge connecting people, nature, and regions in the future.
