Yarkant, as an important town on the southern route of the ancient Silk Road, still retains some of the Silk Road's cultural heritage. According to the "Great Tang Records on the Western Regions", the Tang Dynasty Xuanzang returned from the Western Regions to obtain the scriptures. In 643 AD, he passed through Yarkant and preached to the local residents for 3 days. At that time, Yarkant had less than 30,000 people, but every day 10,000 people came to listen to the scriptures. The preaching activities not only demonstrated Xuanzang's religious influence, but also reflected the profound foundation and widespread spread of Buddhist culture in the local area. The Xuanzang Cultural Exhibition Hall is located at the site of the Nuru Zidun site where Xuanzang preached. The exhibition hall uses the "site + art + technology" exhibition method to display the eastward spread of Buddhism on the Silk Road through physical objects, scenes, sculptures, multimedia and other forms. And the story of Xuanzang's journey to the west to obtain the scriptures, as well as the influence of Buddhism on the culture of the Western Regions and the Central Plains.
