The good old thatched roofs of Ouchijuku.

Apparently you can tell when the roof was replaced by the color of the thatch. While running the shop, most of the people seem to live in the village. The shop staff gave us a paper with illustrations of shrines that you can walk around Ouchijuku and spots where you can see the whole area from the top of a hill, and they taught us a lot. The waterway in front of the shop is apparently spring water, and very clean, cold water flows through it. Other people also put their hands in the spring water and felt the coldness. On the way home, we took a break with some delicious shiratama zenzai. It wasn't too sweet, and the shiratama had a chewy texture, so we enjoyed it in a warm shop. #EnjoyJapan #Ouchijuku #ThatchedRoof
