This statue captures him holding a printed page with the words “Et la lumière fut” (And there was light). In this square that once hosted book fairs, his presence still radiates knowledge and change. You feel history pressing into the cobblestones. 🇫🇷 Place Kléber, Strasbourg – Jean-Baptiste Kléber In the heart of Strasbourg, I stood beneath the towering statue of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber, the city’s revolutionary hero. Born here in 1753, he became a brilliant military strategist during the French Revolution. The statue dominates the square, reminding everyone of Strasbourg’s proud historical backbone — and how ideals of liberty once marched through these very streets. 🇨🇭 Montreux, Switzerland – Freddie Mercury Statue By Lake Geneva’s edge, facing the water like he’s ready to sing into the sunset, stands Freddie Mercury. This is more than a statue — it’s a shrine. Flowers at his feet, Queen lyrics in the air, and fans quietly pausing to feel the magic. Montreux was his creative escape — and standing there, it became mine too. 🇫🇷 Colmar, France – Statue of Liberty Yes — Colmar! This town was the birthplace of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the original Statue of Liberty. This 12-meter replica, standing by a traffic circle as you enter the city, might surprise visitors — but it makes perfect sense here. It’s a tribute to liberty born not just in New York, but in Alsace.
