IWM North

#manchestertrip A very striking building located just over the river from media city Salford and a stone throw from Old Trafford. The museum was well maintained and informative with a good mix of interesting displays and information. There are some particularly impressive exhibits, my favourite being the Harrier suspended from the ceiling, closely followed by the Rolls Royce Merlin Engine. In the museum there was also a small art installation (not sure if this changes periodically, but the bright neon art signs were great to look at and a juxtaposition to the historic artifacts in the room next door. I'm not sure how many times throughout a day, but whilst there the IWM had an immersive experience with a commentary, projections on the walls and loud historic sounds. The car park where we parked was directly next door (not sure how much it was now) but with the museum being free entry, it was a low cost day out. There was a cafe, and a gift shop. The gift shop had lots of nice things, not just children's toys but history books, nice mugs, etc. the pricing for the kids toys certainly seemed reasonable. #manchestertrips
