#100 Ways to Travel Located in the west, the city of Etobicoke was originally named Mimico and was established in 1814. The village was once an important transportation hub, with many shops, churches, schools and post offices concentrated along Dundas Street West. Although the village is now surrounded by modern cities, its original charm is still preserved and presented through murals. These murals were mainly created by mural master John Kuna, and their style is mainly realistic. Two of the "welcome" murals are located at the bridgehead over Mimico Creek, while the remaining 26 are painted on the sides of buildings on both sides of the street, stretching along Dundas Street West, covering a full five blocks. The community has set up display boards for each mural, introducing its historical background, so that people can learn about the history and culture of the town while appreciating the artwork. ##Mural Town
