Wat Mahawanaram or Wat Pa Yai

Wat Mahawanaram or Wat Pa Yai in Ubon Ratchathani Province is an ancient temple that is considered a royal temple in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Inside the temple is the enshrined image of Phra Chao Yai Inpang, the Buddha image that is a symbol of Ubon Ratchathani. Wat Mahawanaram is an ancient temple in Ubon Ratchathani Province. It is 6 cubits wide at the lap and 10 cubits high from the pedestal to the topknot. It was made of bricks and cement, lacquered and gilded. It was completed on the full moon day of the fifth month, which falls on a Sunday in April at 3:00 p.m., as stated in the stone inscription in front of the Buddha image. Therefore, the temple has designated the full moon day of the fifth month of every year as the day to celebrate Phra Chao Yai Inpang. People from Ubon Ratchathani and visitors flock to pay homage to Phra Chao Yai Inpang to ask for his blessings and to grant them eternal happiness.
