I had always wanted to stay at this member's inn of the Society for Preserving Secret Hot Springs, but there were no vacancies, and finally found a vacancy on the weekend, so I stayed there!!! ⁡ The room was 8 tatami mats (with a toilet), and since it's a mountain inn, it was comfortable even without air conditioning at night in early July🍃 ⁡ ✔️Recommended points ⚫︎You can use the hot spring water from the source 24 hours a day (indoor bath only) ⚫︎You can use the private bath for free♨️ ⚫︎You can enjoy a total of 6 baths, including the indoor bath, open-air bath, and private bath. ⚫︎You can enjoy dinner and breakfast in a semi-private room🥢 ⚫︎The warm water from the public bath is right in front of you, so you can bathe whenever you want! ⚫︎Cold water is prepared in your room from the time you check in🧊 ⁡ ✔️Points to note ⚫︎There is no refrigerator in the room. Hanamiyama Park Address: 17 Torihara, Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture I was traveling with my mother and her colleagues on this trip, and of course I had to take care of their needs, so I found this Hanamiyama Park in Fukushima and took them for a walk to see the flowers and take pictures. From JR Fukushima Station, change to bus No. 8 to Hanamiyama and get off, which is about ten minutes away, which is very convenient. Unplan trip to Hanamomo-no-Sato!! You all know , I don’t like crowded place and always try to look out for peaceful and remote places doesn’t matter how far I need to work 😆😆!! Then I came to know this little secret place. Is not so straightforward journey like other places . I need to take train from Sendai to Fukushima by JR line ( covered by JR pass ) , then change to local private line called Iizaka railway- 370 ¥ one way (cute and very old local private train line - solely that small region) and took until terminal and walk about 20 mins to the place . But , they have small map to the place and along the road have signage to guide you the direction . When you are near, there were some volunteers guiding along the traffic. It was really local small place to enjoy late flowers . It will be very beautiful in few days time , even now was beautiful to me . Some colourful cherry plus peach flowers combined and the mountains background make me paradise!! And you don’t need to pay anything . They sell some local delicacies and I enjoy some tea and walk around , sat down and enjoy flowers and walked back to the station. It took me half day. Sansuiso tsuchuyu onsen is located in Fukushima. It is a ryokan that we highly recommend to come and relax. We intend to save money to have a good place to stay. I went to the Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art and the Koriyama City Museum of Art. There were many works by artists with ties to Fukushima Prefecture. Fukushima also has the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art, which has many works by Dali, but it was closed for the winter... #museum

Fukushima Station, Fuku no Piano Fukushima Station is a JR East, Abukuma Express, and Fukushima Transportation station located in Sakaemachi, Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. A street piano (Fuku no Piano) will be unveiled in front of the ticket gate at the east exit of Fukushima Station on March 30, 2021! It will be on display at this location until September 30, 2021, and will be moved to Komukomu, a facility that nurtures the dreams of children in Fukushima City from October onwards. Shin-Shirakawa Station JR Tohoku Shinkansen and the Tohoku Main Line run through this station. Although it also belongs to the freight section, no freight trains depart or arrive at the station, and it is currently out of service. The Daruma Market is held in Shirakawa every year on February 11th, and there is a large Daruma doll at the information desk located just outside the ticket gates.

Our family has always loved McDonald’s breakfast in Singapore, so during our stay in Fukushima, we were curious to see how the Japanese version compared. We headed over to the Iriecho branch, which was easy to get to and had plenty of parking right outside—a huge plus for those driving. The outlet wasn’t crowded when we visited, so we had a peaceful, relaxing breakfast. We ordered our usual favourites: hotcakes, sausage muffins, and the big breakfast set. The best part? The taste was nearly identical to what we get back home, which was honestly a pleasant surprise—it felt like a familiar morning ritual, just in a different country. What made this branch stand out, though, was learning that they proudly source some of their ingredients from local farmers. That little detail gave the whole meal an added layer of appreciation. This was our very first 7-Eleven stop on our Tohoku self-drive trip, and honestly, it just felt right. Convenience stores in Japan are in a league of their own, and 7-Eleven is always one of our go-to favourites. We made a quick stop at the Fukushima Racecourse branch, and of course, it turned into more than just a simple pit stop. For us, it’s almost tradition to grab some of our must-have 7-Eleven favourites—like the curry buns, the indulgent double cream puffs, and those perfectly chilled chocolate eclairs. Every item feels like a little snack treasure, neatly packed and reliably tasty. Each convenience store brand in Japan has its own specialties, but 7-Eleven’s lineup never disappoints. When the first Sushiro opened in Singapore, the queues were insane—and we always wondered if it lived up to the hype. So now that we’re actually in Japan, we knew we had to give it a proper try on its home turf—and we’re really glad we did. This particular branch in Fukushima (Asahicho) was in a very convenient location, and parking was a breeze with ample lots just outside the shop. The setup was clean and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait long at all to be seated, which was a nice change from the long lines back home. We ordered a wide variety of sushi, and each one impressed us. The quality of the ingredients and the flavour were noticeably better than what we’d experienced in Singapore. The fish was fresher, the rice was seasoned just right, and even the side dishes were on point. And then there’s the price—so much more affordable here in Japan! It almost felt like a steal for the kind of quality we got. No, we’re not native Japanese and we’re not pretending to be sushi connoisseurs, but the difference in taste and value was clear. Hanamomo no Yu is easily one of the better public onsens I’ve experienced in Japan. Located in Iizaka Onsen town, the whole place gave off a relaxing and refined vibe right from the start. Even before stepping in, the exterior décor was beautiful and inviting, setting the tone for what turned out to be a great soak. The onsen itself was immaculately clean and well-kept, which is always a huge plus. I noticed a faint sulphuric scent in the air—subtle, but enough to suggest that the water had sulphur properties, known to be great for the skin and circulation. That added a nice touch of authenticity to the overall experience. There’s both an indoor and outdoor bath, and I made sure to try both. The indoor bath was serene and steamy, while the outdoor rotenburo felt amazing with the cool air contrasting the warm water. Surrounded by natural elements and the sound of flowing water, it was truly peaceful and rejuvenating. While wandering around Fukushima in search of a spot for afternoon tea, we stumbled upon オジマパン店, and what a gem it turned out to be. This is one of those old-school Japanese confectionary cafés that feels like it’s been lovingly preserved in time—run by a sweet elderly couple who clearly take pride in what they do. The moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the lady boss, whose hospitality was so genuine it instantly made us feel at home. The café was quiet, charming, and filled with nostalgic touches—from the retro furniture to the slightly faded but warm decor. It really felt like stepping into someone’s cozy living room from decades past. We sampled a few of their homemade snacks and pastries, and everything we tried was simple yet delicious in that comforting, no-frills way. As for the coffee—it was clearly made in a very local Japanese style, which leans on the lighter side. We personally prefer a richer, stronger brew, but it still paired well with the snacks.
