During my trip to Okayama, I chose to stay at the Mitsui Garden Hotel, and the overall experience was excellent. The hotel's location is outstanding—just a 5-minute walk from JR Okayama Station. Whenever I visit, I actually prefer staying in the South Wing. After self-check-in, you can immediately head upstairs. The older wing has been renovated, and on two occasions, I was lucky enough to book a single room but got upgraded to a twin room, which offers more space. Okayama Korakuen, one of Japan's three great gardens, is a must-visit spot when traveling to Okayama. My first encounter with Korakuen was during a road trip from Hiroshima to Kyoto, making a special stop in Okayama City to explore this strolling garden that has existed since the Edo period. Korakuen spans a vast area of 133,000 square meters, and its natural beauty throughout the changing seasons is simply breathtaking. The garden features ponds, artificial hills, plum groves, and tea fields, enhancing its natural charm. The historical buildings from the Edo period, such as Enyo-tei, Renchi-ken, Yuishin-zan, Ryuten, and Hananoike, also attract many visitors. Korakuen boasts blooming flowers all year round. Okayama Takashimaya in front of Okayama Station was designed by the famous Japanese architect Murano Togo. I took the train from Okayama Station to Kibitsu Station. Kibitsu Station is an unmanned station that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Since there are few trains heading back to Okayama, I was careful not to miss the train, but I ended up missing it. The reason was that the platforms for the inbound and outbound lines are directly opposite each other, but I didn't realize they were different boarding areas. It was quite a shock because it wasn't a short walk between the platforms. The next train from Kibitsu Station to Okayama Station was about an hour later.
