[Experience]
Sometimes, the most profound travel memories often come from those unexpected encounters that are "not in the plan".
That day we came to the vicinity of Seongsan Sunrise Peak, but unexpectedly, the sudden heavy rain disrupted the original itinerary. The wind was strong and the rain was heavy on the street, and the umbrellas were almost unable to resist. In a hurry, we just wanted to find a place to hide from the rain and warm up. Under such circumstances, we accidentally walked into this "Mall Manong Geudaewa Hamkke".
The store is not big, but there is a sense of security as soon as you walk in. The warm air is mixed with the aroma of the soup, which makes people relax instantly. We only ordered a bowl of seafood ramen. Originally, we just wanted to fill our stomachs. Unexpectedly, when the bowl of noodles was served, the visual shock made us dumbfounded-the whole bowl was filled with whole octopus, crabs, shrimps and shellfish, which was as rich as a small seafood feast.
The soup is the kind of Korean-style red spicy soup base. It tastes spicy and rich but not choking. The noodles are chewy and absorb the juice. With the freshness of seafood, every bite is like swallowing the seafood of Jeju into the stomach. Even if we only ordered one bowl, it is still very enough for two people to share, and we are even a little full.
What touched us the most was that when we were about to leave after eating, the friendly boss actually took the initiative to give us two pieces of exquisitely packaged Jeju orange chocolate as souvenirs. At that moment, there was really a warm feeling of "traveler being accepted", as if I accidentally broke into someone else's house in the heavy rain and received the most sincere hospitality.
Although this meal was not part of the original plan, it became the most unexpected and unforgettable part of the entire Jeju trip. Sometimes, the most charming part of a trip is not how many beautiful photos you take at the scenic spots, but this unintentional kindness and beauty.
Next time if you travel to the east of Jeju, you might as well write down this "Mall Manong Geudaewa Hamkke". Whether you are hungry or just want to find a place to take shelter from the wind and rain, here you can give you a bowl of hot soup and a piece of Jeju's tenderness. 🍜🧡🌧
