Pay homage to Luang Por Si Khao at Wat Sala Khruean

🏘 Wat Sala Khruean was originally built during the Ayutthaya period. It later became abandoned and was reestablished as a temple in 1831. When it was still abandoned, the roof of the ordination hall collapsed, revealing the principal Buddha image inside. This incident led to the temple being named "Wat Sala Khruean" (Sala Khruean means "collapsed pavilion"). 🏡 In 1832, King Rama III ordered the restoration of the temple and constructed a new ordination hall in his preferred architectural style, which excluded decorative elements like chofahs, bai raka, and hang hong. The gable was adorned with stucco and glazed tiles. The King personally supervised the restoration closely, which was completed around 1835. Key attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The ordination hall: It features an extended porch supported by twelve-sided columns with long petal-shaped capitals, reflecting Ayutthaya-era design. Inside, the hall houses Luang Por Si Khao, a Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture with four overlapping feet, created during the Sukhothai period.
