Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok｜🪭A 148-year-old timeless classic by the Chao Phraya River

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok, and the overall experience was incredibly comfortable, perfect for those who appreciate tranquility and a sense of ceremony. The hotel lobby features high ceilings, mirrored decorations, and hanging floral arrangements that exude sophistication. In the evenings, live classical quartet performances create a wonderful ambiance—so relaxing that you won't want to leave once you sit down to listen. Baan Phraya restaurant, located across the river, is a Thai restaurant converted from an old mansion with a charming atmosphere. The menu focuses on traditional royal-style Thai cuisine, with exquisite presentation and authentic flavors—highly recommend the tom yum soup and curry dishes. Be sure to book in advance, especially for riverside seating. The Oriental Spa, also on the opposite bank, offers dedicated boat transfers. The serene environment and skilled therapists make for a truly relaxing experience, complete with post-massage tea and snacks—a must-try. Overall, this hotel is understated yet excels in countless details. If you're looking for a few days of slow-paced relaxation during your trip, I highly recommend it. The lobby's design harmonizes with the surrounding greenery, making you feel like you're in a Thai garden. The current floral arrangements in red and purple evoke the grandeur of the Thai royal family. I stayed in a Deluxe Suite this time. Unlike Capella or The Siam, which face the river directly, the Mandarin Oriental offers views of both banks of the Chao Phraya. The room's warm yellow-toned design and furnishings are quintessentially Mandarin Oriental. While the room does show some signs of age, the overall ambiance is unmatched in elegance—fully deserving of its status as one of Bangkok's only two Michelin three-star hotels.
