Zhuyuan Wei in Gangshang Village, Longnan, Jiangxi

Zhuyuan Wei gets its name from the bamboo garden next to the enclosed house. It is one of the many enclosed houses in Gangshang Village and boasts a unique architectural style. Situated on a large hill more than 20 meters above the plain, Zhuyuan Wei features a complex internal structure with multiple courtyards and rooms, all paved with pebbles. These enclosed houses served not only as residences but also as important social centers for families and communities. The history of Zhuyuan Wei dates back to the second year of the Guangxu reign (1778 AD) when it underwent major renovations. Covering an area of over 2,000 square meters, it follows the typical Hakka layout of three rows and six horizontal sections, with a threshing ground in front and two rows of arc-shaped houses. In the center stands the Ye family's "Hua'an Ancestral Hall." It is listed as an immovable cultural relic of Longnan County.
