This street in Shanghai's Old Town is becoming more and more photogenic

Shanghai's Old Town, originally known as the old Nanshi area, is what could be considered Shanghai's first ring—the area encircled by Zhonghua Road and Renmin Road, which was the very heart of old Shanghai County. Dajing Street, where Dajing Pavilion is located, was once home to "Xianglu Garden" (also known as Luxiang Garden), one of Shanghai's three great gardens during the Ming Dynasty (alongside Yuyuan Garden and Rishe Garden). This area holds historical significance with sites like "Nine Acres of Land," "Old Drill Ground Road," "Wanzhu Mountain Villa," and "Qinglian Nunnery," though nothing remains today except the name "Luxiang Garden Road." Luxiang Garden is now the name of a residential community. Last year, only Phase 1 was completed, featuring classic Shanghai-style Shikumen architecture, though security guards restricted photography inside. This year, Phase 2 is nearly finished, showcasing traditional Chinese garden aesthetics with ornamental rocks, flowing water, and winding corridors—each element exuding charm against the backdrop of gray tiles and white walls. Meanwhile, "Luxiang AROMA" on the other side of Dajing Road offers a distinctly European vibe. Thus, this street blends nostalgia with modernity, making it an increasingly popular location for brand photoshoots.
