[Tokyo] Shoin Shrine, a shrine dedicated to the late Edo period thinker Yoshida Shoin

We went to Shoin Shrine in Setagaya, Tokyo 🚶 A shrine dedicated to Yoshida Shoin, an educator and thinker who lived during the late Edo period ⛩️ Yoshida Shoin is famous for the Shoka Sonjuku school, which we learned about in Japanese history classes, and he taught studies without being bound by status or class 🥸 It is also famous for producing many famous people who have left their mark on history, such as Takasugi Shinsaku, who founded the Kiheitai, and Ito Hirobumi, who contributed to the establishment of the Meiji government as the first Prime Minister. In the precincts, there is a building that recreates the Shoka Sonjuku school, and Yoshida Shoin's grave is also left behind! The approach to the shrine is wide and well-maintained, surrounded by greenery, and at the back of the approach, a magnificent shrine appears 👀 The current shrine was built around 1927, and the original shrine is said to be the inner sanctuary.
