Wat Ming Muang, Chiang Rai Province A beautiful temple in the middle of Chiang Rai city with the charm of Tai Yai and Lanna art. Built by Chao Nang Talamae Sri, the consort of King Mengrai the Great, who was the daughter of the Burmese king of the city of Hanthawaddy, this temple has a mix of Burmese and Lanna architectural styles. The wooden chapel in Lai Kham style is built in a combination of Tai Yai and Lanna art, and has a ceiling in Traibhumi and Pali styles in the shape of 34 swans. Inside is the principal Buddha image, Luang Pho Phra Sri Ming Muang, which is a 400-year-old stucco Buddha image covered in gold leaf in the Chiang Saen Singh 1 style. It is 80 inches wide at the lap. The top of the crown is in the shape of a lotus bud, carved from crystal glass, and is very beautiful.
