Hiroshima: A Journey Where Painful History and Peace Coexist

Hiroshima is not just a tourist destination but a special city where one can reflect on history and feel the essence of peace. Throughout the trip, I was left with a calm and profound sense of emotion. The first stop was the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome. The dome, which still bears the scars of the atomic bombing, stands silently yet delivers a powerful message through its mere presence. At the Peace Memorial Museum, records and artifacts from that time were on display, leaving me with a heavy heart and a sense of solemnity. The paper cranes and the Peace Bell scattered throughout the park embodied the wishes of people hoping that such a tragedy would never happen again. Next, I took a ferry to Miyajima. The red torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to float on the sea, was truly a magnificent sight. The changing scenery depending on the tide was particularly impressive, and the freely roaming deer in the area added an extra layer of charm to the trip. Hiroshima's culinary delights were also unforgettable. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, layered and grilled on a hot plate, was hearty and delicious, while the fresh Hiroshima oyster dishes were a true delicacy. Lastly, I visited Hiroshima Castle. Although it was reconstructed after the war, the serene surroundings made it a pleasant place to walk, and the exhibits inside offered another perspective on Hiroshima's history. Hiroshima is a city that remembers the past while advocating for peace, and it is a travel destination where nature, tradition, and gastronomy come together. It was more than just a lighthearted trip; it was a meaningful experience that left a deep impression on my heart.
